Our Pastors
Pastor Dave serves as House of Prayer's Senior Pastor. Formerly a native of Ohio, he brings to his ministry among us a broad base of leadership experiences. Earning his undergraduate degree at the United States Air Force Academy and a subsequent commission as an Air Force Officer, Pastor Dave brings worldwide flying experiences as a result of active duty service as an Air Force Navigator on KC-135 Stratotankers. A 1990 graduate of Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, Pastor Dave began his ministry in the Western ND Synod serving four congregations in rural North Dakota. In 1994, he joined House of Prayer's staff as an Associate Pastor and helped support a unique shared-ministry formed between our congregation and a new mission start. Serving as our Lead Pastor since 1997, Pastor Dave brings a spiritual sensitivity and compassion to his ministry that is welcoming and affirming. Privileged to be a husband to his wife, Joanne, for 25 years, Pastor Dave also is honored to be the father of two children, Emelie and Luke. With his love for history, the arts, and the natural beauty of North Dakota, Pastor Dave and his family have discovered Bismarck to be a place they enjoy calling their home. Joel Samuelson serves as the Associate Pastor of House of Prayer where he is in his eighth year of ministry. He is passionate about sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with people, knowing it can make a difference in everyone's life. One hobby he particularly enjoys is fishing. So if you know of any hot spots - do not hold out. Joel graduated from New London-Spicer High School, Gustavus Adolphus College, and Luther Theological Seminary. He is married to Amanda Blum Samuelson. They welcomed their first child, Dakota Blum, on January 14th, 2010, and second child, Eden Blum on November 4, 2011.
